Capecchi Simo

Ischia island, Carnet de Voyage in progress

Favorite destination once included in Southern Italy artists’ Grand Tours, in Ischia there is still a lot to draw and to discover. During many different journeys I have painted landscapes, events like a rare plants fair or a chefs competition, interviewed fishermen or followed a group of archaeologists working underwater, while excavating a ancient roman pier structure.

Volterra, Carnet de Voyage in progress
Small, medieval town with etruscan heritage, Volterra is famous for its scenic location among Tuscan hills and for alabaster workshops. I go there each summer since many years, still finding new spots to sketch and depict, both landscapes than artisans at work or to follow a yearly Festival featuring a Prisoners Theatre Company.

A Jacket’s history. Reportage inside a neapolitan bespoke tailoring factory
I have always loved drawing artisans at work and describing a process live. This time I was hired for a sketched reportage by a tailoring factory known for its exclusive custom-fitted men clothing.

Our aim was to show clients how an artisanal activity has been adapted to a production line without loosing quality. During a whole week I followed the creation of a man’s jacket from the beginning to the end, one of the most complicated and engaging process I have ever drawn.

Route des Villes d’eaux. Reportage from historical thermae villages in Massif Central

A project for touristic promotion has been the occasion to hire a group of sketchers to recount life and activities in a network of villages with art deco buildings. On May 2016 I’ve been in Evaux-le-Bains and Bourbon-l’Archambault for a couple of weeks, between architectural landmarks, medieval castles, beautifully decorated thermae buildings and events like a vintage cars meeting.
